An opportunity to volunteer in Sweden with Culture and Leisure Department in Jönköping Municipality Organisation. This volunteer project focuses on bringing the international dimension to local youth work in Jönköpings kommun. Four international volunteers will participate in this project within the European Solidarity Corps program for a full year.
About the Project
The main work of the volunteers will be to participate in the activities offered by the youth centers of the Jönköping municipality. The Youth Centers work with children and youth of different age groups, but specifically target those between the ages of 10 and 19. They offer after school and evening activities according to the age group of the youth. The host organization is looking to host 4 volunteers for a period of 12 months, starting September 1, 2022. The volunteers will be part of the daily work of young people in two youth centres: two volunteers will contribute to the work of Stråga fritidsgården, and two volunteers will work in Råslätt Fritidsgården. Some common daily activities include: creating arts and crafts, quizzes and discussions on various topics, playing table tennis and video games, outdoors.
Your tasks
- Contributing to the daily youth work activities of youth centers by sharing new ideas and applying prior experience.
- Developing leisure time and meaningful activities together with youth leaders, civil society, and the youth
- Promoting the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+ program to young people of Jönköping
- Communication tasks: creating posters/flyers, updating information about activities on the Instagram or Facebook accounts of the youth centres
Eligibility
- Your age between 18 - 30 Years old
- EU and non-EU residents in one of the ESC Programme countries can apply
- Interested in working as a volunteer with children and young people.
- Willing to take initiative to plan, organise, implement, and evaluate activities within youth centres
- Ready to work on your own, as well as in international teams
- Open-minded and tolerant towards differences in backgrounds and abilities
- Experienced in arranging and organizing learning activities for children and youth
- Advantage: interested/experienced in the topics of inclusion, youth mental health, online activities

- Your travel expenses to and from Sweden will be covered.
- You will receive a money monthly for foods and your personal needs

- The volunteers will be provided with a shared accommodation within student area of Jönköping
- The volunteers will get to learn basics of Swedish language
- Volunteers will also join on-arrival and mid-term trainings organized by MUCF.
