Volunteer opportunity for two weeks at Tipu Nature School teacher which working in nature and environmental education in Estonia between between the cities of Viljandi and Pärnu in Soomaa National Park. The volunteering will be fully funded by the school and this volunteer project will be held within the projects of the European Solidarity Corps.
About Tipu Nature School
It is a non-profit organization working in the field of nature and providing environmental education activities for schools and kindergartens based in Soma National Park. The school organizes a number of camps for children and youth and offers workshops and hikes. The organization has 2 employees, 2 active members and 2-4 long-term volunteers working to maintain the venue, organize events and develop new activities.
Your Role in the Volunteering
The working time will be between 6-7 hours per day, most of the activities will take place in the open air and the work will be supervised by the director of the organisation and one volunteer. And the possible actions that you will practise are:
- Maintenance and organisation of gardens and placing signs and information boards on the long-distance walkway.
- Taking care of the animals in the garden (such as rabbits, chickens, ducks), making hay
- Wood and mud brickwork and school room renovation
- cut bushes
Finance and Benefits
- Travel costs are reimbursed according to the actual travel distance between Tipu Nature School and volunteer`s hometown as the following limits:
0-9km 0€
10-99km 20€
100-499km 180€
500-1999km 275€
2000-2999km 360€
3000-3999km 530€
- Host organisation will pick up participants from Kõpu and Viljandi in the afternoon/evening of the arrival day.
- Volunteers are provided with accommodation and food for free.
- Volunteers will be accommodated on mattresses on the floor of small village house and in group-tents outside.
- There is one small bathroom inside with a shower, elsewhere there are compost toilets and a solar shower outside.
- Each volunteer will get 4 Euro per day as a pocket money. For all service of 16 days the pocket money will be 64 Euro in Total.

- working clothes, warm clothes for evenings and nights
- wet weather clothing
- sleeping bag and sleeping mattress
- swimwear and towel
Eligibility
- Your age between 18 - 30 years old.
- You are a resident in one of the ESC Programme countries (Visa - free countries) and also for local Estonian participants.
- No prior experience is needed but rather willingness to stay a lot of the time outside in a natural environment.
