AGORA Summer Camp 2023 for Young Feminist in Brussels, Belgium (Fully Funded)

About the Program

The AGORA is an EWL programme that brings young feminists from all over Europe to Brussels for a 5-day gathering to discuss and explore feminism and learn from each other. The programme is open to any young women aged between 18 and 30 (at the time of the AGORA) who are keen to connect with other young feminists. Through a 5-day participatory summer camp, we aim to create a space for young women to exchange, bridge gaps, inspire and be inspired, strengthen connections, reinforce skills and hear the voices of other young feminists. The objective is to empower young women feminists in Europe to be activist leaders in a changing world by giving them a space to share experience, knowledge and ideas.

Through workshops and the sharing of expertise, which will be facilitated by EWL and partners, over the course of 5 days, EWL will create an inclusive place for participants to discuss ideas, get inspired, and strengthen skills.


About EWL

The European Women’s Lobby (EWL) is the largest European umbrella network of women’s associations in Europe, representing the diversity of women and girls in Europe. For a total of more than 2,000 women's organisations in Europe, the EWL currently has 32 national coordinating bodies in countries inside the EU, in candidate countries, in former EU Member States, and in the European Free Trade Association, in addition to 17 members on a global level. In support of women's rights and gender equality in the European Union, we work with our members to promote a feminist Europe. 


Eligibility

- A feminist woman between 18 and 30 years old (at the time of the camp)

- Having experience related to women's rights or gender equality

- Living in one of the EU countries

- Having a good level of English language (B2)


Finance and Benefits

- Participants' program expenses in Brussels, including accommodation and all meals, will be covered by the EWL. 

- Participants will stay at the Motel One, a centrally situated, completely accessible in the heart of Brussels. The hotel location is ten minutes' walk from the event location. 

- All of the program sessions will be held at Amazone. Numerous events, including dinners with chances to network with EWL personnel and some of our allies, will be planned. 

- EWL staff will get in touch with participants who might have special needs in advance to determine what kind of assistance is required throughout the entire program. 

- According to the rules of the European commission, EWL will reimburse  the travel costs based on the distance from your country to Brussels as following:

  • for travel distance between 0 and 99 km: 23 EUR / person.
  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.
 - EWL ask for a financial contribution from participants. This supports us to pay for some participants’ travel costs and cover a small part of the programme
 costs ( 25 euros - 50 euros- 100 euros- 150 euros - 200 euros - 300 euros- 500 euros - others)

Note: the level of participation fee that you would be able to contribute, this amount will NOT impact in any way on the selection process.


Timeline

Application deadline: 23 July 2023, midnight

Application results: EWL aim to inform all successful candidates by 28 July 2023. 

Beginning of the project: afternoon on 4 September in central Brussels

End of the project: Around lunchtime on 8 September 2023


Application process

There are only 40 places. EWL will select candidates based on the application materials and the criteria above. The participants' experiences with diversity as well as their motivation for and involvement in feminist action or campaigns for women's rights and gender equality will be decisive considerations. EWL goal is to assemble a group of young feminists from various backgrounds, geographic locations, and activism levels.
