The European Conference "Value and Recognition of Youth Work" in Zagreb, Croatia (Funded)

Open call for 80 youth workers, trainers, active youth, youth policy makers to attend the European Youth Work Agenda "Conference on Value and Recognition of Youth Work" in Zagreb, Croatia. The conference is organised by Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes in Croatia (AMPEU).

About the European Youth Work Agenda

The European Youth Work Agenda (EYWA) aims to promote youth work by enhancing and improving youth work practices and policies. The value and acknowledgment of youth work is one of the EYWA's specific concerns.

About EYWA 2023

The conference is part of the "Strengthening Youth Work in Europe by Supporting the Implementation of the European Youth Work Agenda" (SNAC EYWA) strategic cooperation project, which involves 15 National Agencies and SALTO Resource Centres. The project's goal is to support the EYWA by applying EU youth programs for the advancement of youth work within the Bonn Process and by providing thematic impetus.

The conference's overall objective is to promote more recognition of youth work and to offer a forum for further discussion on the various facets of recognition. This understanding of recognition thus far covers the following four areas:

- Self-recognition (valuing our own and others work as a field and gathering evidence of the impact of our work).

- Social recognition (other professions and the public acknowledging and valuing youth work as a professional field contributing to society).

- Political recognition (young people's and youths' work is incorporated into the formulation of policies, and suitable political, legal, and financial framing conditions are present).

formal recognition ('validation' of learning outcomes, 'certification' of learning processes, training and education of youth workers both within the context of youth service and in formal education).

The Conference's Goal:

• To compare and contrast existing initiatives in the youth work sector (from various recognition aspects and from various countries), and to exchange and examine best practices and ideas for enhancing recognition.

• To get knowledge about ethical standards in regard to acceptance in various industries.

• To compile a summary of the present situation of youth work recognition (based on a communication campaign before the event and a number of actions during the event)

• To develop a unified message about the importance of youth work that can be delivered to others outside of our field.

• To increase commitment to recognition by empowering participants and facilitating capacity-building (by enhancing knowledge, tools, resources, networks, etc.)

• To create plans for action and strategy
