OECD recruits approximately 600-700 interns each yearThe vast majority of internships are available in Paris, France. About OECD Internship

OECD Internship Programme is an international Internship. It designed to bring in highly skilled and driven students from a variety of backgrounds to work on projects related to the Secretary-General's Strategic Orientations and to assist the organisation's corporate operations.  Its main goal is to give successful candidates the opportunity to improve their analytical and technical skills in an international environment.

Selected applicants will do research in one of the following areas and assist Policy Analysts with their needs. Please be aware that this is not a comprehensive list.

For internships in the Corporate functions, successful candidates will be involved in one of the following areas:

  • Translation


Eligibility

Internships are primarily allocated to OECD Member countries nationals, while also open to non OECD Member country nationals for specific programmes and projects across OECD affiliated bodies and agencies (e.g., International Tax Forum, ITF, NEA). Please note that all applications are subject to the screening process.

- Applicants must be a Bachelor's, Mater's, or PhD student enrolled in a full time degree programme at an accredited university for the duration of the internship in a field related to the work of OECD.

- You are available for a minimum internship duration of one month.

- Have an excellent command of one of the two official languages of the OECD (English and French) and working knowledge of, or willingness to learn the other.

- Knowledge of other languages used at the OECD would be an advantage.

- Solid quantitative and computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. 

- Demonstrate excellent drafting and communication skills.

- Are capable of working in multicultural and international team environment.

Strong interest in the work of OECD in promoting international co-operation. 

- Good organisational skills, ability to work effectively on the basis of general instructions, with the capacity to prioritise tasks, often according to tight deadlines. 

Duration

The internship duration ranges between one and six months (renewable for another six months up to a total of one year). The OECD encourages potential interns to pursue an internship of four months or more in order to make the best of their internship experience and gain meaningful insights into the work at the OECD. 


Financial conditions

- OECD does not provide or reimburse international and local travel costs. 

- Interns at OECD don't  receive a salary, however, there is a contribution to living expenses of 1000 euros per full month worked will be granted to interns by the OECD.

- The OECD does not insure interns. Interns will have to provide proof of medical insurance themselves before the start of the internship.

- Apart from public holidays observed by the OECD, when the total duration of the internship is longer than 2 full-time months, interns are entitled to 2.5 days of annual leave per calendar month worked.

- If you are selected for OECD internship and you need Visa, OECD visa team will assist you to obtain a visa.

-  The OECD does not provide accommodation to interns. However, information on how to find housing in Paris is provided. 


Timeline

Application deadline: The OECD recruits interns on an ongoing basis, meaning that applications are accepted throughout the whole year. You can apply anytime on the OECD careers website. 

Selection result: You can expect to hear back after your application within two to three weeks. Should you succeed, your profile will be shared with hiring Directorates.

Internship Start: There is no set start date for internships. Applicants are asked to indicate their availability in their online application. Once selected, interns discuss their start date with the hiring team. 

Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by Directorates for an interview, If you will not receive an answer within 3 months of your submission, that means you are rejected but still you have the right to apply again in the next call and you will still need to be a full time student.


Selection process

The selection process consists of four main stages:
1.Your online application and cover letter  (should be indicated under “Message to Hiring Manager” section)

2. Pre-screening: all applications are screened by the Internship Office and suitable candidates placed on a shortlist made available to OECD Directorates

3. Interview and/or Written Test: hiring teams may invite candidates to complete a telephone interview and/or written test

4. Offer letter: if you are selected following a telephone interview and/or written test you will receive an e-mail with your internship offer letter from OECD Human Resources.
