Open call for 10 young people who are interested in doing volunteering work for long-term in Europe to apply for long-term volunteering "ESC Vibe "Volunteering for Inclusion, Belonging, and Empowerment" in Palermo, Italy. This volunteering project is organised by "Associazione di Promozione Sociale Per Esempio ONLUS" and funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme of the European Union.

About the Volunteering

The "ESC VIBE: Volunteering for Inclusion, Belonging, and Empowerment," will be held in Palermo and will engage 10 young individuals aged 18-30 for 30 weeks. The main aim is to raise awareness among young people about the importance of non-formal education as a means for active participation and social inclusion, offering opportunities for both personal and professional development. The specific goals are:

 - Improving the well-being and educational growth of minors in the Ballarò, Borgo Vecchio, and ZEN neighbourhoods, especially those facing sociocultural and economic challenges, by engaging schools, families, the third sector, and institutions.

 - Enhancing young volunteers' understanding and skills in gender empowerment, combating violence, and challenging stereotypes.

 - Facilitating migrant inclusion through employment support, housing independence, and the development of stable social networks.


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18-30 years old;

- A Citizen or a resident of one of the following countries (France, Spain, Belgium, Greece, Ireland, United Kingdom, Finland, Lebanon, Ukraine, Palestine, Egypt, Austria, Denmark, Jordan, Germany);

- The priority in selection will be for young individuals who are not in Education, Employment, or Training";

- Able to communicate in English language

- Ready to interact actively with all the project activities and stay the whole duration of the project


Expenses and Benefits

- Participants will be accommodated in well-located apartment in Palermo's historic city center, near the central station. 

- The apartment is equipped with all the necessary equipments and the kitchen supplies, just bring your bedsheets and the towels.

- All the volunteers will receive a monthly food contribution to buy their food.

- Each participant is entitled to receive a monthly pocket money 180 EUR per day as a pocket money.

- Participants from EU countries should get the European Health Insurance Card, for non-EU residents, they will receive HENNER insurance for the whole period of the project.

- Participants who will need Type-D Visa for Italy, will get the invitation letter and the other necessary documents from the host organisation after the selection process.

Your international travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the distance between your home and Italy according to the following limits:

  • for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
  • for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.

  • IMPORTANT: keep all your travel documents! Online boarding passes and tickets for reimbursements. No documents = No reimbursement!
  • IMPORTANT: Please send your travel proposition per e-mail to the organisers and wait for their confirmation before purchasing your tickets!

- Participants are entitled to receive a YouthPass certificate after the project where you are expected to self-assess your own learning and you can add it to your CV. 


Timeline

Application deadline: 31st of March 2025, (23:59)

Arrival and Departure days: A total of 30 week(s) during the period 01/08/2024 to 31/03/2026

Note: You have 4-6 extra days in total that you can use before or after the project to travel around Italy. If you wish to do so, bare in mind that you need to cover the costs for your accommodation & food. Late arrivals or early departures are not allowed.
