If you are a young person aged between 18-30 and interested in doing a volunteering project in rural area in Spain, then this is an opportunity for you to apply for the ESC Teams Volunteering "Mission Europe" for 6 weeks in El Borge, Málaga, Spain. This volunteering project is organised by Almenaras association and funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme of the European Union.
About Almenaras Association
The association is dedicated to promoting and developing activities for young people in Axarquía, a rural region of Malaga. Its main mission is to encourage the active participation of youth in the community by offering a variety of programs and events that range from cultural and sports activities to educational and social projects. The association strives to create an inclusive and collaborative environment where young people can acquire new skills, make friends, and contribute positively to society. Additionally, Almenaras has extensive experience in Erasmus+ projects and promoting volunteerism.
About the Volunteering
"Mission Europe" is a short term volunteering project aiming mainly to promote the European Union missions and various interests of social actors in El Borge, the town that will host you. The volunteers will join different tasks such as:
- Creation and implementation of workshops for promoting healthy lifestyles.
- Promotion of digitalisation and visual imaging of different resources in the town to advance the digitalisation of rural areas.
- Raising awareness about climate change and the European Green Deal through workshops for children and youngsters.
- Creating online and offline campaigns to promote European missions in rural contexts.
- Supporting local events organised by the town, such as “El día de la pasa”.
- Developing your own mini-project to implement in El Borge, such as intercultural workshops, installations, audiovisual content creation, etc.
The volunteer will work 5 days a week, approximately 30-35 hours. Working hours may be in the mornings on some days and in the evenings on others. Additionally, there will be language immersion and mentoring sessions in the evenings. The working days will mainly be from Wednesday to Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday designated as rest days.
About El Borge
El Borge is a charming village located in the Axarquía region of the province of Málaga, Spain. El Borge embodies the traditional Andalusian rural lifestyle. The village is situated in a mountainous area, providing stunning views of the surrounding landscape, which is dotted with vineyards, olive groves, and citrus orchards.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Young people aged between 18-30 years old and living in one of the ESC Programme countries check the list HERE;
- Volunteers may be unemployed or facing educational, economic, social, or physical challenges;
- There is no previous experience required, just you need to interested in the project and ready to participate actively;
- Participants who are interested in promoting healthy habits and physical activities, nutrition, environmental issues and climate change are encouraged to apply.
- People who are Interested in digital work (creating audiovisual content such as videos, podcasts, graphic design, etc.) are encouraged to apply.
Expenses and Benefits
- Volunteers will be accommodated in shared flats in the village of El Borge.
- Each volunteer will receive 200 € per month to buy his/her own food. The flats will have cooking facilities available.
- Each volunteer will receive 6 € per day (180 € per month) for personal expenses.
- Health Insurance included for the duration of the volunteering period.
- Volunteers will have 3 vacation days to enjoy at the end of their period.
- Some trips and leisure activities will be organized by the host organisation.
- Your international travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the distance between your home and Italy according to the following limits:
- for travel distance between 100 and 499 km: 180 EUR / person, +30 EUR extra for Green travel.
- for travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: 275 EUR / person, +45 EUR extra for Green travel.
- for travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: 360 EUR / person, +50 EUR extra for Green travel.
