RCOY MENA 2024 Conference in Amman, Jordan (Fully Funded)

An exciting opportunity for young people from MENA countries to join the Regional Conference of Youth (RCOY) MENA 2024 which is scheduled to be held in Amman, Jordan in September 2024 for three days. The RCOY stands for Regional Conference of Youth. Regional Conferences of the Youth (RCOY) is the regional conference by YOUNGO (the Youth Constituency of the UNFCCC) to collect the ideas and voice of the youth to be carried forward to UNFCCC COP. 


About RCOY MENA 2024

The conference is dedicated to promoting youth empowerment and unity across MENA countries to aid climate-vulnerable communities, thereby contributing to climate peace and security. This conference is organised jointly by youth-led organisations and supported by various local and international partners, this event addresses the significant impacts of climate change in the MENA region. It underscores the importance of empowering youth as a united force. The initiative aims to bring together the voices of young people from all MENA countries, highlighting their shared responsibility in tackling the challenges faced by climate-vulnerable communities in the region. By adopting a collaborative approach, the conference seeks to amplify the empowered voices of youth, encouraging a collective response to climate issues. The event will include sessions, workshops, and panels with regional decision-makers, ensuring broad representation and participation.


Conference Objectives 

The conference aims to contribute to the global climate dialogue, empower youth in the MENA region to engage in climate action, foster unity across MENA countries, address unique challenges arising from fragility and conflict, facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration, showcase youth-led innovation, and promote Jordan as a regional hub for impactful youth engagement in climate resilience.


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Young people aged between 18-35 years old;

- Coming from one the MENA region countries ( Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen)

- The conference will engage 300 participants such as high-level officials, climate experts, young leaders, civil society representatives, NGOs, local youth activists, and students from Jordan and across the MENA region.


Qualifications

- Clear and effective communication skills;

- An understanding and appreciation of different cultural backgrounds, with an ability to navigate cultural nuances respectfully;

- Flexibility and openness to different perspectives, approaches, and ways of working, while remaining agile in diverse environments.

- A proactive mindset and demonstrated experience working well with colleagues in an exciting, cross-cultural, and dynamic environment


Expenses and Benefits

- Travel, Visa, Accommodation, meals, and all the expenses related to the RCOY MENA 2024 Conference will be funded by the organisers.

- The Conference will be hosted at the King Hussein Business Park (KHBP) in Amman, Jordan, a dynamic space known for its excellence in hosting events and promoting sustainability.
