About IRENA
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is a lead global intergovernmental agency for energy transformation that serves as the principal platform for international cooperation, supports countries in their energy transitions, and provides state of the art data and analyses on technology, innovation, policy, finance and investment. IRENA promotes the broad use and sustainable application of all renewable energy sources, such as bioenergy, geothermal, hydropower, ocean, solar, and wind energy, in order to achieve sustainable development, energy security, and resilience and prosperity in the social and economic spheres as well as a future that is climate-proof.
Members of IRENA include the European Union and 168 other nations. Together, they determine the Agency's programmatic initiatives and strategic direction, keeping in mind the global energy conversation and the need to expedite the deployment of renewable energy transitions on a global scale.
About IRENA Youth Forum 2025
IRENA is organising its sixth IRENA Youth Forum: The New Generation of Decision Makers on the sidelines of the fifteenth session of the IRENA Assembly (January 11-13, 2025), which serves as the Agency's highest decision-making body, Heads of State/Government, Ministers, and global stakeholders will convene to discuss and promote the energy transition.
The 2025 IRENA Youth Forum aims to strengthen youth networks by connecting them with global thought leaders, government officials, and IRENA experts. It will provide a platform for young people to contribute to the Agency's mission of accelerating renewable energy deployment in support of climate goals and the sustainable development agenda. Through interactive sessions such as open dialogues and thematic workshops, participants will have the opportunity to bring a youth perspective to the global energy conversation.
IRENA Youth Forum delegates are expected to attend and participate in:
- High level plenaries
- Experts Debates & Roundtables
- Workshops and Seminars
- Interactive activities
- Youth Circles
- High Level Bilateral meetings
Eligibility
- All nationalities are welcome to apply for IRENA Youth Forum 2025.
- Applicants must be youth aged between 16-35 years old.
- Having a proper CV.
- There is no English language Certificate required to apply
- Applicants need to have a valid passport throughout the duration of the Forum.
- Participants will be selected based on their commitment to accelerating progress on renewable energy deployment.
Financial conditions
- There is no any registration or participation fee.
- Selected applicants will have full sponsorship, including travel and accommodations, will be provided for up to 35 participants.

Application deadline: 24th September 2024 (at midnight, Abu Dhabi local time)
Event days: 9-13 January 2025
