About UPG Sustainability Leadership
UPG Sustainability Leadership is a movement that mobilises individuals and organisations to promote positive citizen leadership in sustainability. Led by UPG Sustainability Leaders, this initiative trains over 500 leaders annually from all global regions, and 60 Participants will be chosen from the online training for the 1-week full trip to Hurricane Island, United States. expanding the network of exceptional individuals actively working in their communities to showcase the impact citizens can have in creating a more sustainable world. As part of their efforts, UPG Sustainability Leaders have directly trained more than 86,000 citizens worldwide (and counting). We honor them as champions for a more sustainable future.The goal of UPG is to enhance citizen leadership skills focused on sustainability, inspiring others to take proactive steps within their communities. UPG will select 500 participants for an online training program, and from this group, 60 participants will be chosen for a fully-funded one-week trip to Hurricane Island, United States.
Eligibility
- Committed and active citizens from all over the world
- Candidates must be aged 18-35 between 1 March and 31 July 2025.
- Candidates must be self-motivated, capable of overcoming major challenges and able to think outside the box.
- People of different levels of education can apply, there is no educational conditions.
-Candidates from all genders and candidates with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
- You want to get FREE training and the chance to spend an immersive 1-week experience in the USA.
- All candidates are required to be able to speak, read and write in English as the training is conducted in English.
Finance and Benefits
- Participation in UPG Sustainability Leadership is FREE for selected participants. All 500 participants will receive online training free of charge and all will be certified as UPG Sustainability Leaders after completion of the course.
- Participants selected for the one week immersive excursion will have the costs of the program covered – training material, accommodation, subsistence, local transportation, international flights (a round trip flight from participant’s home town to the US)
- Visas are not included in the costs of the program, and selected applicants are entirely responsible for covering these expenses. UPG will send visa application letters to assist with the process (if necessary).
UPG Selection Criteria
The evaluation process is done by reviewing the following four sections of your application:
A. Profile – who are you? This helps organisers to strive for diversity.
B. Motivation – why do you want to be a UPG Sustainability Leader?
C. Capability – how capable are you to do what you want to do?
D. Potential for Impact – what is the potential of your early ideas?
UPG Application Requirements
- A formal picture of you
- A short video with a maximum 2 minutes to answer any of these 4 questions above .
- There is no English certificate required, the video helps the organisers evaluate your English language skills
- You may submit that video by including a link to the video in the application now (there is a section in the application for this).
