ACT - Arts for Community Transformation | Training Course in Italy (Fully Funded)

An open call for youth workers, educators, musicians, dancers, and theatre makers to join the training course "ACT - Arts for Community Transformation" aims to empower participants from various community hubs to act as cultural facilitators, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively integrate performing arts into their local contexts. This training course will be held in Altamura, Italy from 27 January - 3 February 2025. The project is organised by Associazione LINK  and co-funded by the European Union through Erasmus+ Programme.

About the ACT

The ACT initiative, spearheaded by Link Association, is rooted in two core projects launched in recent years:

  1. Agorateca Library: Since 2019, this community library has offered a variety of educational and cultural programs for children, youth, and adults. Located in a revitalized space within a suburban school in Altamura, it serves as a hub for community learning and cultural exchange.

  2. COMETA Educational Community: This initiative brings together various institutions, as well as cultural, sports, and social organizations in the city, to address and reduce educational poverty. Its goal is to foster a supportive educational network within the community.

These projects inspired the development of a training course designed for professionals who engage with young people and communities. The course emphasises the educational value of community spaces, providing practical tools and techniques for social engagement through the arts in both public and private settings.

This training program is designed to empower participants from diverse community spaces to serve as cultural facilitators, providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to incorporate performing arts into their local settings effectively. A primary goal is to develop workshops and interactive activities that leverage resources valuable to educational communities.

Participants will take part in activities that may involve physical engagement, such as energizers, team-building exercises, physical theater, and dance. A strong emphasis is placed on ensuring these interactions are conducted with respect, creating an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone involved.
