Community Solutions Program 2025 in USA (Fully Funded)

About (CSP) Program

The Community Solutions Program (CSP) is a 12-month professional development program for community leaders who are already working to better their neighbourhoods by tackling problems with democracy and human rights, the environment, peace and conflict resolution, and women and gender. The CSP consists of a six-month follow-up community project that fellows carry out in their own countries after completing a four-month practical U.S. practicum and receiving individualised leadership mentoring and training through a graduate-level leadership program. 

Community leaders will be chosen to take part in the following program:

- Fellowship lasting four months in the US: Community Solutions fellows are paired with host groups around the country where they conduct a four-month, practical professional practicum to develop their technical skills and experience.

- Community Leadership Institute: Community Solutions fellows take part in this graduate-level leadership program, which aims to improve their managerial and leadership abilities. The Institute offers networking opportunities, professional mentoring, online courses, and in-person training.

- Community-based initiatives: Community Solutions fellows conceive and plan a community development effort or project to carry out after they return home while they are in the U.S. and with the assistance of their U.S. host organization. Following their departure from the United States, the fellows carry out a six-month follow-up project in their local communities.

Eligibility| Who can apply

- Your age is between 26 and 39 years as of November 13, 2025.

- You are a citizen of one of the eligible countries listed below.

- You are living and working in your home country now.

• Special consideration may be given to individuals who have refugee status and are acting on behalf of their community of origin.

- Have at least two years of proven experience working on community development, either as a full-time or part-time employee or as a volunteer.

- You are not currently participating in an academic, training, or research program in the United States of America.

- You have a high level of proficiency in spoken and written English at the time of application.

• Semifinalist will be required to take an English Language exam or submit recent scores for TOEFL or IELTS English language test.

- You are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and have not applied for permanent residence in the United States within the past three years.

- You are eligible for a J-1 visa for the United States.

• Applicants who have participated in a US Government-sponsored exchange program must have met the two-year home residence requirement.

- You are available to travel to the U.S. for four months from August to December 2025.

- You are committed to returning to your home country for at least two years after completing the program.

Timeline

Application Deadline:  November 13, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EDT

Results: 19 February 2025, CSP applicants notified if selected as a finalist or alternate status

Arrival days: 4-8 August 2025, CSP fellows travel to the U.S. and participate in the Welcome Orientation. 

Departure days: 1-5 December 2025, CSP fellows participate in the End of Program Workshop and then return to their home countries.

Note: January - July 2026 CSP fellows complete their community-based initiatives.

Selection Process 

After the deadline, all eligible applications will receive a preliminary review by CSP staff before being shared with a selection panel that consists of CSP alumni (not from the applicant’s country of citizenship), representatives from CSP U.S. partner organizations, and technical experts. Applicants who pass the preliminary and reading review stage and meet the criteria listed in the application materials will be identified as semi-finalists and invited to complete a recorded interview and submit a CV. Finalists and alternates will then be selected. Final acceptance into the program will depend on the individual’s (or applicant’s) performance on an English exam unless finalists meet certain exemption requirements.
