About EIGE Traineeship
The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) is offering 11-month traineeships within its Outreach and Engagement Unit. These positions are based at the Institute's office in Vilnius, Lithuania, and are open to recent university graduates in fields like communications, public relations, international studies, European studies, politics, social policy, or related disciplines. Trainees will have the chance to gain insight into the EU's functions and EIGE's specific work.
Selected applicants will receive an offer letter detailing their main responsibilities, which may be further refined after the traineeship begins. Depending on the needs of the department and the trainee's background, they may also be assigned to assist in additional areas. Each trainee will have a designated supervisor throughout the traineeship. The program's primary objectives are to:
- Provide on the job training experience in key areas of the Agency's work covered by the Outreach and Engagement Unit;
- Extend and apply knowledge acquired in the course of studies or working life;
- Provide practical working knowledge of EU agencies and institutions;
- Enable trainees to acquire work experience in an EU agency context.
The trainee can expect to carry out a variety of tasks from the list below:
- Contribute to EIGE’s social media presence and the development and implementation of thematic campaigns;
- Draft content for EIGE’s external news items and periodical newsletters;
- Support the development of infographics, videos and other audio-visual products;
- Identify gender-inclusive visuals to support EIGE’s communication products;
- Assist with the development and maintenance of EIGE’s website;
- Analyse and report on metrics and analytics, web user patterns and behaviours;
- Support the development of digital learning;
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations;
- Support in organising EIGE’s stakeholder events, visits and meetings;
- Manage media and stakeholder databases and requests;
- Respond to enquiries from the public;
- Support with monitoring EU policy-making and prepare regular reports;
- Draft briefing notes, speaking points and background papers for EIGE’s management;
- Assist with monitoring the outreach of EIGE’s work.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Be national of an EU Member State country (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden) or an EFTA country (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) or an IPA qualifying country (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Türkiye)
- Applicants must have a recognised university degree evidencing completion of a full cycle of study, in case of the trainees who are at the end of their studies, an official attestation from the university stating the marks obtained .
- Applicants must have a thorough knowledge ( C1 level) of one official language of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge (B2 level) of another language of the European Union; one of these languages must be the Institute’s working language, which is English.
- No age limit is imposed on the candidates for traineeships.
Finance and Benefits
- The traineeship is supported by a monthly grant equivalent to 1,286.30 EUR for each trainee.
- Travel allowance is provided to cover the travel costs of the trainees.
- The maximum reimbursement for extra luggage costs for trainees upon arrival and departure shall be 250 EUR each way.
- Trainees will have to make their own health insurance arrangements.
- Grants awarded to trainees are not subject to the special tax regulations applying to officials and other servants of the European Union.
- EIGE will take appropriate measures, where needed in a particular case, to enable trainees with a disability to have access to and participate in, the traineeship.
- Trainees are entitled to teleworking up to 60% of the working week. Requested shall be submitted accordingly in the Agency's leave management system.

How to apply
Step 1 - Online registration: Candidates must submit their application electronically using the provided application form. Applications must reach eige.hr@eige.europa.eu by not later than 13:30 Eastern European Time (EET), on 18 November 2024 and the subject title should include the name of the candidate and the reference number of the traineeship.
Step 2 - Supplementary documentation: If a candidate is chosen to begin a traineeship, she or he must submit copies of all the supporting documentation - such as proof of nationality, diplomas, academic credentials, employment certificates when appropriate, insurance coverage for sickness and accidents during the traineeship, a medical certificate indicating work fitness, etc. - required to demonstrate that they meet all admission requirements before the application can be deemed complete.
