An exciting opportunity for young women from Erasmus+ youth programme countries to apply for the training course "Empowering Women in Outdoor Education" in Gospić - Veliki Žitnik, Croatia and from the period of 23-30 November 2024. This project is organised Outward Bound Croatia and co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
About Outward Bound Croatia
Outward Bound Croatia is non-profit organisation that provides outdoor experiential learning courses. The main field of activity is the organisation and implementation of innovative outdoor courses for school children and youth, with special concern for youth with fewer opportunities. The organisation believes in the power and intensity of learning and adventure in the outdoors – as a means of bringing out the best in our participants.
The mission is to encourage young people to discover and develop their potential and create a better world for themselves and others through challenging experiences in unfamiliar settings.
About the Project
The project is consists of 8 days training for female youth workers, beginners level or experienced in outdoor education, experiential learning in nature. The main golas of the training course are:
- bringing together 20 women working in outdoor education field from 6 different countries
- networking and sharing of knowledge and experience
- breaking the gender segregation in outdoor education field
- diving into: using nature as a classroom, hard skills development, facilitation skills
- expedition as a tool in outdoor education
- personal development
- women's circles
- designing and practicing new educational activities
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Participants must be women with age over 18, there is no upper age limit;
- involved in outdoor education field, experienced outdoor instructors as well as less experienced, beginners in this field are welcome to apply;
- have a sending organisation from their country involved in Erasmus+ program (it is necessary to send contact from the sending organisation).
Expenses and Benefits
This training will be implemented within the Erasmus+ Programme. Food and accommodation will be provided by OBC and covered by the project budget. The travel costs will be reimbursed to the participants after the project, ONLY IF they take part in the whole project.
- Participants will be accommodated at OBC Educational Center in Veliki Žitnik, a small village in the rural, mountain region of Lika, Croatia. It's located 6km away from the nearest bigger city - Gospić.
- The OBC Educational Center is fully equipped with 2 dormitory-type bedrooms (male and female), bathrooms, a kitchen, a common room, and a big yard, surrounded by forest.
- There is no WIFI available.
- The travel costs will be reimbursed up to a certain amount according to the Erasmus+ distance calculator. If the costs of the travel exceed that amount, the participants will have to come up for it by themselves.
- The refund of the travel expenses will be made until 1/4/2025 in Euro by bank transfer and only upon submission of all the necessary travel documents . All the tickets' costs purchased in a local currency will be converted to EUR and calculated according to the exchange rate of the month of the project contract given by the European Commission.
