BETD Media Fellowship 2025 in Berlin, Germany (Fully Funded)

An open call for international journalists from all over the world to apply for the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue Media Fellowship 2025 from 18-19 March 2025. The German Government invites the world to its 11th inspiring dialogue on the Global Energiewende, which has become the leading international forum on the green energy transformation. All costs regarding the participation in this event will be covered by Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

About the fellowship

For several years, the Federal Foreign Office, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE e.V.) have invited international journalists to cover the BETD. Through the BETD Media Fellowship, young journalists from around the globe gather in the German capital to attend this exclusive conference, engage with prominent figures from science, politics, industry, and civil society, and network with other BETD Media Fellows worldwide, fostering a global perspective in energy journalism that transcends national boundaries.

Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Aspiring journalists from all over the world can apply.

- Applicants must be part of Media affiliation (Newspaper, Radio, TV, Online Media, Social Media, Print Media).

- Have a good level of English. 

Expenses and Benefits

Following parts are included in the fellowship program:

- Travel to & accommodation in Berlin for BETD.25 and Berlin Energy Week

- A virtual pre-meeting with expert input

- Active participation in the BETD.25

- Press opportunities with high-level speakers, government representatives & other VIPs

- Access to BETD side events, including guided tours, receptions, business-to-government formats, and workshops

- A behind-the-scenes look at the global energy transition

Application documents

Applicants will be required to upload the following documents below:

1. A motivation letter explaining why you would like to participate in the BETD media fellowship program (200 to 300 words).

2. A comprehensive CV containing your personal information and indicating your experience and knowledge on energy related topics.

3. Two samples (in one PDF file) of your journalistic work in English language. A translation is also accepted.
