There are two types of Volunteering programs with Scout Adventure:
Option 1: UK Volunteer Trainee Instructor Programme (UK applicants only)
This programme gives you the opportunity to join an incredible team that delivers unforgettable experiences to thousands of young people. You’ll be a key part of our 2025 journey, with the chance to both learn and share a wide range of new skills, all while being surrounded by a supportive community of volunteers. Applicants from UK will join an exciting 11 month of challenges.
Option 2: Residential Volunteer programme (UK and international applicants)
This programme offers you the chance to be part of Scout Adventure amazing team delivering unforgettable experiences to thousands of young people. You'll play a big part of our 2025 story and have the opportunity to not only learn but teach loads of new skills surrounded by our volunteering family. Applications from the UK, Europe and all over the world are welcomed to choose between 6 or 10-month programme.
Eligibility | Who can apply ?
- Applicants from the UK and all over the world who aged over 18 years;
- you’ll need to bring lots of energy, a positive can-do attitude and a willingness to be outside in the great British weather;
- Able to communicate effectively in English;
- commit to around 40 hours per week (spread across 5 days with evenings and weekends included) with up to 23 days off during the placement;
- There is no special skills or specific educational programs are required to apply.
Expenses and Benefits
- Live on-site with other residential volunteers from around the world, with all meals and uniform covered.
- A weekly allowance of £45 plus reimbursement for direct costs for (Residential Volunteer programme) and A weekly allowance of £35 plus reimbursement for direct costs for (UK Volunteer Trainee Instructor Programme)
- Log hundreds of hours of hands-on experience instructing youth groups and learning all about centre operations.
- Make friends from around the world as you volunteer alongside other volunteers from over 30 different countries.
- Full course in instructing skills, first aid, safeguarding, customer service and more.
Visa Status
If you do not hold a UK passport you will be required to apply and pay for the following:
• Tier 5 Charity Workers visa. This will cost you approximately £298
• Immigration Health Surcharge as part of your visa application, this will cost you approximately £1035 - this is only paid if your placement is for more than 6 months
• TB test certificate – not all countries require this so you will need to check, the cost of this varies from country to country too so you’ll need to check on this as well.
Application requirements
• Membership confirmation from your National Scout/Guide Organisation (only required if you're a current Scout or Guide)
• Reference letter of recommendation (from your school/university or employer)
• A photo of you
• A short 2-minute video introducing yourself.
Timeline
Application deadline: ASAP
Volunteering time: February to November 2025 (10 month programme), or March to September 2025 (6 month programme).
