Erasmus+ Training course "Unfolding Complexity" in Madrid, Spain (Fully Funded)

An excellent opportunity for 38 youth workers, youth leaders and activists from the Erasmus+ program countries to join the training course "Unfolding Complexity - Foundations of conflict transformation" which will take place in Rascafria, Madrid, Spain from 15-22 February 2025. The training course is organised by Association LPS Madrid and co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.


About "Unfolding Complexity"

Unfolding Complexity is a training course for 6 days invites 38 participants to decode the hidden messages with tension and disagreement, finding ways that lead not just to resolution, but to transformation. By discovering the tools of conflict and its impact on our lives and communities, we’ll uncover how it can drive creativity, growth, and resilience. 

This approach isn’t about sidestepping challenges but embracing them and envisioning new possibilities beyond them. In an increasingly complex world, the urgency of transforming conflict has never been greater. This initiative encourages participants to reflect, revisit the basics, and harness the potential of dialogue and understanding. 

The aim of the training to provide 38 youth workers, youth leaders and activists with tools to transform conflicts into opportunities for dialogue and growth, enhancing collaboration and building inclusive communities capable of addressing challenges.


Training objectives

- To deepen understanding of key concepts like peace, different types of violence, conflict, non-violence, and the culture of peace.  

- To explore the importance of nonviolent conflict transformation, various strategies for addressing conflict, and how these connect to human rights issues.  

- To empower participants to actively contribute to building healthier, more peaceful communities at the local level.  

- To develop skills in emotional awareness and non-violent communication.  

- To help participants assess and understand their own unique contexts and challenges.  

- To guide the creation of at least 6 follow-up activities aimed at transforming local conflicts using conflict transformation techniques.  

- To produce a recommendations document that outlines the essential competencies for youth leaders to foster sustainable communities and strong teams.


Eligibility | Who can apply?

Youth workers, Youth leaders, and activists interested in conflict transformation and non-violent communication.

- Participants must be a resident in one of Erasmus+ program countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden, North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Türkiye)

- Participants must be over 18 years old with no upper age limit.

- Ready to stay in a venue in the middle of the forest and being with the nature during the activities.

- Willing to explore and apply the rules of peace, human rights and community-building.

Open-minded and ready to contribute to a positive, inclusive atmosphere.

Committed to engaging in self-reflection, collaborative learning, and sharing their experiences.

Able to attend the whole duration of the training course including the travel.


Expenses and Benefits

- There is no participation fee. The training course is for FREE and everything is covered by Erasmus+ program.


- All costs related to the accommodation and meals in Rascafria, Madrid will be covered by the organisers from the arrival day at night to the departure day morning.


The individual maximum budget for travel reimbursement per person, is the following:

  • 10 – 99 km 56 EUR (Green Travel)/ 28 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • 100 – 499 km 285 EUR (Green Travel)/ 211 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • 500 – 1999 km 417 EUR (Green Travel)/ 309 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • 2000 – 2999 km 535 EUR (Green Travel)/ 395 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • 3000 – 3999 km 785 EUR (Green Travel)/ 580 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • 4000 – 7999 km 1188 EUR (Green Travel) 1188 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
  • 8000 km or more 1735 EUR (Green Travel)/ 1735 EUR (Non-Green Travel)
