About ISTA
The Institute of Science and Technology of Austria is an international research institute in the natural and mathematical sciences, located in Maria Gogging, Klosterneuburg, 20 km northwest of the Austrian capital Vienna. It was established and opened by the Lower Austria Provincial Government and the Austrian Federal Government in 2009.
About ISTERNSHIP Program
The ISTernship Fellowship provides an excellent platform for students and recent graduates to enhance their scientific research skills. Since 2013, the program has welcomed ISTerns (fellowship recipients) from around the globe each summer for 2 to 3 months to collaborate on research projects under the guidance of ISTA’s host professors.
Participants benefit from mentorship within ISTA’s research groups and engage in a customized program featuring various events designed to enrich their campus experience. The fellowship concludes with a poster session, where ISTerns showcase their research to the broader ISTA community. Successful candidates receive both financial and administrative support from ISTA’s Graduate School and OeAD.
Upon arrival, ISTerns receive an introduction to research at IST Austria as well as an introduction to the IST Austria Graduate School. The program culminates with a research seminar, in which ISTerns present their work to their peers, faculty, and lab mentors. The courses are full-time and will be conducted exclusively in English.
