The European Union Agency for Railways Traineeship 2025 in France (PAID)

An exciting opportunity for newly qualified graduates with a Bachelor's degree from EU/EEA countries, West Balkans, and Türkiye to join the European Union Agency for Railways Traineeship 2025 in North France for a period of 6-10 months. Selected trainees will receive a monthly grant, reimbursement of travel expenses, paid leaves and training opportunities reserved for the staff.

About the ERA

The European Union Agency for Railways (ERA), located in Valenciennes, France, plays a crucial role in ensuring safety, interoperability, and efficiency within the EU railway system. It establishes harmonized safety standards, manages the certification of vehicles and operators, and aids in the development of the Single European Railway Area (SERA). By promoting technical alignment and eliminating cross-border obstacles, ERA facilitates smooth and efficient rail transport throughout the EU.

Additionally, ERA is at the forefront of digital transformation, implementing systems such as the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) and endorsing sustainable practices that align with EU climate objectives. It monitors railway performance, offers technical expertise to EU institutions, and maintains Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs) to standardize both infrastructure and operations. This effort contributes to making railways safer, more environmentally friendly, and increasingly competitive.


About ERA Traineeship

ERA is welcoming newly fresh graduated with Bachelor's degree and railway professionals from EU/EEA countries, West Balkans, and Türkiye to apply for its paid traineeship and contribute to the everyday work of the Agency. Traineeships are conducted at the ERA headquarters in Valenciennes or its offices in Lille, France. ERA offers two different traineeship depends on which country you are from you can apply for one of them, which are:

- ERA Traineeships 2025, Open for European Union, and European Economic Area nationals (up to 10 months)

- ERA Traineeship IPA 2025, Open for nationals of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Türkiye (up to 6 months)

Traineeships are offered in areas such as:

  • Railway safety and interoperability.
  • Technical specifications for rail systems.
  • Communications, human resources, IT, and administration.
The program is an excellent opportunity for those interested in EU affairs, transportation, and rail industry innovation.


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Nationals of a any of the 27 Member States of the European Union, European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway),West Balkans country or Türkiye; 

- Have a university degree or equivalent (minimum 3 years of study);

- Have a very good command of English language;

Traineeships will be offered in priority to applicants who have not already been a trainee in a European institution, agency or body.


Expenses and Benefits

Trainees receive a monthly grant to support living costs during the program.

- Trainees receive reimbursement of travel expenses, paid leaves and training opportunities reserved for the staff. 

 A mentor will guide you during your traineeship.


Timeline

Application deadline: 15 January 2025 (for ERA IPA Traineeship 2025)

Application deadline: 31 December 2024 (for ERA Traineeship 2025)

Starting period: Estimated starting period is envisaged between 01 February 2025 and 01 April 2025.
