Erasmus+ Training Course "Meant to be" in Birštonas, Lithuania (Fully Funded)

An exciting opportunity for 24 youth workers, youth leaders, and youth activists from across Europe to join the training course "Mean to be_2025" which will take place in Birštonas, Lithuania. This project is organised by "Society and Enterprise Development Institute " and co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.


About the training course

The "Meant to Be" training course provides participants with practical skills in volunteer management and mentoring through engaging activities, fostering motivation, teamwork, and professional development within the youth sector.  

Tailored for professionals, youth workers, and mentors working with volunteers, this interactive training enhances mentoring skills by providing valuable insights into volunteer motivation, role definition, and effective mentoring strategies in diverse youth work settings.  

Key Themes and Topics of the project are:

- Volunteer management: strategies for recruiting, involving, and retaining volunteers;  

- Effective mentoring practices: tools to guide and support volunteers in their personal and professional development;  

- Communication and collaboration: strengthening connections between mentors, volunteers, and organisations;  

- Motivation and engagement: understanding volunteer motivation and ways to sustain their enthusiasm;  

- Personal growth through volunteering: recognizing learning opportunities for volunteers;  

- Volunteering & YouthPass: incorporating competence assessment for volunteers.  

Learning Approach:

- The course emphasizes hands-on learning, peer exchange, and real-world application through:  

- Interactive workshops and group discussions;  

- Practical exercises and real-life case studies;  

- Role-playing and problem-solving activities;  

- Opportunities for international networking.  


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Applicants must be over 18 years old;

- Applicants must be a resident in one of Erasmus+ Youth Programme countries Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye;

- Ability to communicate in English since it's the course language;

Able to commit to the full participation during the whole course;

Interested on the topic of the training and able to integrate it on their regular work;

This training course available for youth workers and youth activists and ideal for:

  • Youth workers & NGO representatives
  • Mentors and coordinators of youth volunteers
  • Educators & trainers working with volunteers
  • Anyone interested in improving their mentoring & youth volunteer management skills


Expenses and Benefits

- Participants will be accommodated in the Royal SPA, A four-star hotel.

- There is a cozy restaurant and bar, a SPA center with a swimming pool, whir-pool baths and bathing complex, a leisure space with billiards, table tennis, a fully-equipped cinema hall, a winter garden, and a modern conference center. And all is under one roof.

Participants will have a 3 meals per day with additional coffee/tea breaks.

- Your travel expenses will be reimbursed up to a maximum fixed amount as following:

  • from 10 - 99 km: 28,00€ (Standard travel) 
  • from 100 - 499 km: 211,00€ (Standard travel)  / 285,00€ (Green travel)
  • from 500 - 1999 km: 309,00€ (Standard travel) / 417,00€ (Green travel)
  • from 2000 - 2999 km: 395,00€ (Standard travel) / 535,00€ (Green travel)
  • from 3000 - 3999 km: 580,00€ (Standard travel) / 785,00€ (Green travel)

 All participants in the international training will receive YouthPass certificates.

Application deadline: 23 February 2025

Date of Selection: 25 February 2025

Arrival day: 5 April 2025 for international participants and 6 April 2025 for Lithuanians 

Departure day: 11 April 2025 (3:00 PM)

Please Note: If you plan to to extend your stay beyond the duration of the training, you will be responsible for covering the costs of the accommodation in Lithuania by yourself.
