This research program will be from 9th of June to 4th of July 2025. All costs related to the participating in MBZUAI Undergraduate Research Program will be covered by Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.
About the UGRIP 2025 at MBZUAI
The Undergraduate Research Internship Program (UGRIP) of MBZUAI offers a unique opportunity for undergarduate students to collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the field of AI. UGRIP Summer 2025 will take place from June 9 to July 4, 2025, at MBZUAI Abu Dhabi campus.
During this four-week experiential research internship, you will work alongside top-tier students from the UAE and across the globe on cutting-edge AI research projects. The program provides mentorship from leading faculty and graduate students, networking opportunities, and guidance on future academic and career paths. Additionally, you will enjoy fully covered flights, accommodation, insurance, and a stipend, along with engaging cultural and social activities, including visits to Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Research Areas in AI which you can work on are:
Computer Vision – Research topics include real-time anomaly detection (e.g., car accidents, crowd counting, pedestrian tracking), severe weather monitoring, camouflaged object detection, and tumor identification.
Machine Learning – Focus on improving AI models by enhancing algorithm accuracy, data processing, and optimization for efficiency.
Language Processing (NLP) – Explore areas such as fake news detection, chatbot applications (e.g., ChatGPT and DeepSeek), machine translation, and speech recognition.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Undergraduate students from all the countries around the globe are eligible to apply;
- Undergraduate students must be in the third or fourth year of STEM-related majors with a CGPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale);
- Undergraduates must be still enrolled at their universities after finishing UGRIP;
- Undergraduates must show proficiency in English.
Required documents
- Official enrolment letter from the University Registrar that includes registration status, admission date, program duration and expected graduation date.
- Official academic transcript that includes all registered courses from the first until the current semester with course names, grades and credit hours.
- Statement of Purpose, In an essay, explain why you would like to participate in the UGRIP at MBZUAI.
- Official evidence of English language proficiency, such as;
- an official letter from the University Registrar confirming that English is the medium of instruction at the applicant’s university
- valid certificate of TOEFL iBT with a minimum total score of 90
- valid certificate of IELTS Academic with a minimum overall score of 6.5
- Coloured copy of passport (valid for at least one year)
- All submitted documents must either be in English, originally, or include legal English translations. Additionally, official academic documents should be stamped and signed by the university authorities.
