An exciting opportunity for young leaders from across Europe who are interested in peace education, women’s rights, and youth activism to join WP 2025 RAISE – Resilience And Integration for Sustainable European peace | Capacity Building Training on Women and Peace which will take place in Londonderry, Northern Ireland from from 16-21 March 2025. The Young European Federalists (JEF Europe) is organising this training activitiy, as part of JEF’s 2025 Work Plan, supported by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe.
About the training course
The RAISE project (Resilience and Integration for Sustainable European Peace) focuses on promoting positive peace—not just the absence of violence, but also equity, justice, and development. This training will specifically explore the role of young women in peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
During this 5-day capacity-building training, participants will:
- Learn about positive and negative peace and their impact on communities.
- Explore the challenges young women face in conflict zones and their contributions to building resilient societies.
- Develop practical skills in peacebuilding, youth activism, and advocacy.
- Work on action plans for local or regional implementation.
- Contribute to the RAISE Peace Lesson Plan on Positive Peace.
The training will be led by three experienced trainers specialising in peace education, women’s rights, and youth activism.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Young youth activists aged between 18 -30 years old;
- Applicants must be a resident in one of the Council of Europe member states;
- Applicants must be able to communicate fluently in English;
- You must show interest in the topic of peace and women’s rights and show commitments to contribute to all training activities and their outputs;
- Commitment to attend all the training sessions from 16th to 21st of March 2025.
Expenses and Benefits
- The participation fee is 45 euros. If you can’t afford the €45 participation fee, you can apply for JEF’s Solidarity Fund to attend for free. Just mention it in your application, and they will review your request.
- Accommodation and food expenses covered from Sunday 16th March 2025 evening to Friday 21st March 2025 morning.
- You will need to pay for your travel upfront and arrange your own trip. After the training, submit your invoices and tickets to get reimbursed up to €250 within 1-2 months.
- You must arrange your own visa. After the training, submit your invoices for reimbursement, which will be processed within 1-2 months after attendance is confirmed.
- An unique opportunity to learn about peacebuilding and resilience and to know how to be strongly active in these topics.
- A networking opportunity with young people working in different sectors.
- Becoming part of an engaging and dynamic pool of participants from all over Europe, focusing on promoting positive peace throughout Europe and beyond.
