About the European Bank Authority
The European Banking Authority (EBA) is an independent European Union Authority established in 2011. The Authority's mission is to contribute to the stability and effectiveness of the European financial system through simple, consistent, transparent, fair regulation and supervision that benefits all EU citizens. EBA’s five strategic objectives are:
- to finalize and implement an effective and proportionate Single Rulebook,
- to foster financial stability in an economy transitioning towards sustainability,
- to enable an integrated reporting system for enhanced assessment and disclosure,
- to implement the Digital Finances package with DORA oversight and MICAR supervision, and
- to focus on innovation for the benefit of consumers while ensuring a smooth transition to anti-money laundering.
About EBA Traineeships
The European Banking Authority (EBA) offers paid traineeships designed for 25 recent graduates with Law, Finance, Information Technology, Economics, Banking or other relevant to the area in question into the Conduct, Payment and Consumers Unit of the Authority to contribute to various projects and topics.
The nature of your work depends on the team you are assigned to within the COPAC Unit. Your daily work may, for example, consist of attending and organising meetings, researching, analysing, drafting and editing various types of documents, supporting the management of projects, etc.
Trainees join the EBA for an initial period of six months. Based on the needs of the Authority and the trainee's performance, the traineeship may be extended for an additional twelve months.
Typical working hours of the EBA are between 8:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday. The normal working week is 40 hours, a full working day counts 8 hours and a half-day 4 hours. Trainees are benefited from teleworking under the same conditions as statutory staff.
Eligibility| Who can apply?
to be considered eligible, Candidates must satisfy all the criteria listed below when submitting applications
- Be a national of a Member State of the European Union, or a national of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway)
- A recent university graduate, who has completed his/her studies no longer than three years before the deadline of applications
- Have a thorough Knowledge English (minimum B2 level)
Note: The 3 years rule is not applicable for candidates undertaking PhD studies at the moment of their application for traineeship at EBA
Expenses and Benefits
- The EBA pays a monthly maintenance grant of 1,974.46 EUR. (as of 1 January 2024) to your bank account on the 15th of each month.
- The traineeship grant paid by the EBA is not subject to the special tax regulations applied to statutory staff of the European Union administration.
- Trainees who are coming from outside Paris, may receive a travel allowance to compensate for their travel expenses at the beginning and at the end of the traineeship period.
- Trainees are responsible for finding their own accommodation. EBA can provide with practical advice when looking for accommodation, as well as a standard certificate that can be used for looking for accommodation.
- All trainees are provided with accident insurance, but they must take out health insurance valid in France before the start of their traineeship.
- At the end of the traineeship, EBA provides two standard certificates outlining: the period of the traineeship and the tasks performed.
- There is a 2-day leave per month. In addition, there is the EBA holidays. Unused annual leave days will not be paid in lieu at the end of the traineeship.
Timeline
Deadline: 1st of April 2025
Start of the Traineeship: The trainees are expected to start on the 1st or 16th of a calendar month (with no exception).
