SOLARIC - ESC Team Volunteering for Humanitarian Aid in Uganda (Funded)

An exciting opportunity for young volunteers aged between 18-35 from ESC program countries to apply for a volunteering camp project in Uganda. The SOLARIC camp in Uganda lasts almost two months from the 15th of June to the 13th of August 2025. SOLARIC is looking for 20 volunteers who will be divided into three groups working in Kampala and Nansana. This volunteering project is coordinated by Infinite Opportunities Ass (Bulgaria), Cazalla Intercultural (Spain), VASE Foundation (Ecuador) and co-funded by the European Solidarity Corps program of the European Union.


About the SOLARIC Camp in Uganda

SOLARIC is looking for 20 motivated volunteers who will be divided into three groups working across three different community initiatives in Kampala, engaging in education, vocational training, youth empowerment, and cultural exchange activities, supporting schools and training centers that cater to children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

While each group will work in a different community, they will collaborate closely, exchanging experiences and supporting each other throughout the project. The main Activities during the project are:

- Supporting formal and informal education in local schools.

- Facilitating arts, music, and sports activities for children and youth.

- Assisting in vocational training programs, including carpentry, ICT, and entrepreneurship.

- Engaging in environmental conservation and urban gardening projects.

- Collaborating with teachers, trainers, and community members to create meaningful learning experiences. 


Eligibility | Who can apply?

- Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member States, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Turkey)

- Have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training. Check the details HERE

- Motivated individuals who share ESC values and are eager to work in education, community development, and sustainability.

- Able to attend the whole duration of the project.

Open-mindedness, adaptability, and eagerness to embrace cultural diversity.

 - No prior experience required, but skills in teaching, facilitation, youth work, or vocational training are a plus!

- Knowledge of the English language is useful.


Expenses and Benefits

Your basic costs will be covered (your travel to and from the project, accommodation, and food)

Volunteers will stay in shared apartments within local communities with a minimum of 4 volunteers per flat. Each apartment is furnished and equipped with water, gas, and electricity.

- Participants will receive a small allowance (pocket money) for personal expenses and a food allowance for preparing their meals.

Volunteers are responsible for their meals, either cooking together or individually. Local markets and supermarkets near the accommodation venue offer a variety of fresh and affordable food options.

- Participants are covered by complementary insurance.

 Volunteers will commute daily to their assigned project site using public transport (taxis/matatus). Some may use boda bodas (motorcycle taxis) for shorter distances.

- Volunteers will travel as a group to Uganda, with a coordinated trip organized by the organizers.

Selection result: No later than the end of May 2025

Online training: 2nd and 3rd of June 2025

Arrival day: 15th of June 2025

Departure day: 13th of August 2025
