An exciting opportunity for young people aged 18-35 years from ESC program-eligible countries to apply for a volunteering camp in Otavalo, Ecuador. SOLARIC camp in Otavalo lasts almost two months from the 10th of July to the 7th of September 2025. SOLARIC is looking for 20 volunteers who will be divided into two groups working in the Calpaquà and Karabuela communities. This volunteering project is coordinated by Infinite Opportunities Ass (Bulgaria), Cazalla Intercultural (Spain), VASE Foundation (Ecuador) and co-funded by the European Solidarity Corps program of the European Union.
About SOLARIC Camp in Ecuador
SOLARIC is looking for 20 motivated volunteers who will be divided into two groups working in the Calpaquà and Karabuela communities in Otavalo, Ecuador for almost two months during the Summer of 2025. Volunteers will support local schools by organizing summer camps for young people (ages 12-18), focusing on education, cultural exchange, and environmental awareness.
While each group will work in a different community, they will collaborate closely, exchanging experiences and supporting each other throughout the project. The main Activities during the project are:
- Organizing educational and recreational activities for young people.
- Promoting environmental sustainability and ecological awareness.
- Supporting language learning and intercultural dialogue.
- Encouraging creative expression through arts, music, and storytelling.
- Working together with local teachers, community members, and fellow volunteers.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Youth aged between 18 -35 and legally residents in any eligible ESC country.
- Able to work in an international team with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
- Having a Passion for education, community work, and sustainability.
- Open-minded, adaptable, and eager to embrace cultural diversity.
- No specific skills are required, but experience in teaching, facilitation, or youth work is a plus!
- Knowledge of Spanish language is not required but it is a plus.
Expenses and Benefits
Your basic costs will be covered (your travel to and from the project, accommodation and food)
- Volunteers will stay in shared apartments in Otavalo, Ecuador, living together under communal rules and dynamics. The apartment includes essential facilities for a comfortable stay
- Participants will receive a small allowance (pocket money) for personal expenses and (a food allowance) for preparing their meals.
- Volunteers are responsible for their meals, either cooking together or individually. Local markets and supermarkets near the accommodation venue offer a variety of fresh and affordable food options.
- Participants are covered by complementary insurance.
- Volunteers will commute daily by local bus from Otavalo to their assigned community: Calpaquà (20 min) or Karabuela (30 min). Volunteers will travel all together to Otavalo, with a group trip organized by the sending organizations.
- Travel costs from your country of residence to Otavalo, Ecuador will be reimbursed after the project period according to ESC program rules.
