An excellent opportunity for around 350 young talents from all over the world to apply for the annual event "European Forum Alpbach" in the village of Alpbach, Austria for two weeks in summer 2025. The European Forum Alpbach (EFA) scholarships are funded by the EFA Foundation, the Forum Alpbach Network (FAN), and various public and private sponsors, including governments, universities, NGOs, businesses, and philanthropic organisations. Additionally, over 30 alumni organisations in 21 countries support scholarships and organise events throughout the year.
About the EFA 2025
The European Forum Alpbach (EFA) is an annual gathering in Alpbach, where young talents, including students and professionals, engage in scientific, artistic, and competence-based seminars, as well as high-level conferences and cultural activities. Around 350 first-time participants receive scholarships from EFA and the Forum Alpbach Network (FAN) to attend the full two-week program. The scholarship offers a unique opportunity to interact with decision-makers, build connections, and inspire action. The Forum Alpbach Network fosters long-term relationships among alumni, with over 30 organisations in 21 countries supporting scholarships and organizing events year-round.
Eligibility | Who can apply?
- Applications are open for candidates from all over the world, display diverse sets of skills, and enrich the many formats of the forum with their knowledge.
- You are between 18 and 30 years of age (or between 18 and 35 for citizens of the Global South)
- Applicants must be fluent in English since English is the main language of the event (English proficiency at a minimum level of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference).
- All applicants must be available to attend the European Forum Alpbach event for a minimum of eleven days, including the Euregio Days, Seminar Days and the Europe in the World Days.
- You have not received a scholarship from the European Forum Alpbach yet and therefore qualify as a first-time scholarship holder. If you attended the Forum virtually in 2020 or 2021, you may still apply.
- Female talents in Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics (STEM) are especially invited to apply, as well as talents in urban development, engineering, arts and culture, entrepreneurship, finance.
Expenses and Benefits
- There is no application fee to apply.
- Scholarships for the EFA 2025 cover participation fees and accommodation for the whole period of the event.
- Each participant will get a daily allowance of 25 EUR that partially covers your food expenses
- Travel expenses to and from Alpbach isn't included , you have to cover it by yourself.
Application requirements
- Confirmation on your B2 English Level which CAN BE:
- (TOEFL, IELTS, MUET, Cambridge or Duolingo certificate
- you studied or are studying in an English-speaking country
- your degree is taught entirely in English
- A copy of passport if you are coming from majority English Speaking country
